I have an 88 B2200. It's been smokin the past couple weeks. I checked the compression and its 150psi on cylinder 1,3, and 4 and 145 on cylinder 2. I cant find what the stock compression should be so is this good? I am thinking the smoke is from the valve seals(they are about shot). What is the stock compression on this motor?

I appreciate it guys. I was worried an overhaul was in my future but it may just be valve seals.

Yeah, it smokes REALLY bad first thing in the morning, then about 3 or 4 minutes later it stops. The only reason I thought it was the rings is that when your really get on it hard, it smokes a little bit at high RPMS. That may be from the valve seals being so dry rotted that its letting oil pass while its running.

its your valve stem seals. these trucks are notorious for it. as for the smoking on hard acceleration, how many miles does it have on it? that very well could be the rings worn a bit but that is expected with a high mileage engine.
