These are solid threaded inserts like I was describing.

Good choice, if forced to this, remember the piston clearance.

These inserts are available in several lengths; use the length that matches the spark plug thread distance.

Got it out... Ended up breaking the top off, drilling the porcline down till the internal snap ring came off then used the compression of the engine to force the remander of the spark plug out. No. 5 easy out to the metal of the plug and boom cam right out

So do the threads in the cylinder head still look OK ?

I'm having the same issue with my 91 b2600i, its like the casting of the head did not allow enough clearance for a socket

"I'm having the same issue with my 91 b2600i, its like the casting of the head did not allow enough clearance for a socket"

1. Grind down the socket a little narrower; I had to do this for my aftermarket intake manifold on my air-cooled VW.

2. Make sure there isn't something down in the recess that is preventing the socket from grabbing onto the spark plug hex. I had (on my 1998 Frontier) #1 plug which I couldn't get socket down far enough to "grab", so I just left the plug in there another few years. Then someone suggested heating the socket and using that to melt the plastic obstruction, great idea but it didn't work. It turned out that it was actually a folded piece of rubber, like from previous owner's spark plug socket, and I retrieved it finally with a bent hanger, and then plug came out easy.
