My truck has no balls!!!
I cant figure out what to do with my 89 b2200. I live in El Paso, Tx and there are a lot of hills and mountains and my truck will not get up any of them and if it does im doing about 35mph in a 60. Any suggestions?
First change your fuel filter and check your fuel delivery. These aren't rockets, but not nearly that bad !!!
I'll have to look into that. Thanks
Just remembered that I changed my filter when I replaced my carb and that didnt help. How do I go about checking the fuel delivery?
There should be a set amount delivered to the carb per time interval. One would route the fuel hose from the fuel pump into a measuring container, and run the engine (say) 15 seconds at idle. REMEMBER - CAUTION - GASOLINE is VERY FLAMMABLE !!!
Yeah, also check your timing.
Just a thought but how are the charge air pipe filters in the air cleaner(dirty) and the pre- cat below your exhaust manifold and your cat convertor? If these have not been checked and or cleaned or replaced I would check these for blockage. These items restrict air flow and will kill power period.A good clean exhaust system is just as important in a engines ability to perform as tune up and or timing items. And not to forget the muffler.Figured these items on a 20 yr old truck need service and often go overlooked for poor performance and general running condition.Ok
i just had the cat converter cut off and all new pipe run and they said the muffler was fine so all of that is good.
@cusser, I will have to check that out this weekend. Would you happen to know what the proper fuel delivery is?
I don't know what the hills are like in Texas but I know in the NC mountains there are some that I don't think I'm going to get up lol...and I've got a lil more HP, (not much more), than the regular B2200. Even the wife's Altima 3.6 has to drop down to 3rd or 4th gear to get up our "hills"
