intake manifold spacer

okay mazdawgs um I've got a little bit of a problem i'm changing the carb out on the truck and in between the intake manifold there is a black spacer and I need to know whether or not its necessary

anybody know?

That spacer has two wire coming out, right? That's a PTC heater, to heat the stock carb in cold weather starts. You may not need that in NC.

I don't have one on my B2200, have a Weber 32/36 DGEV, Arizona.
