water pump install

im about to do the water pump on my 86 b2000 and its different from my 89 b2200 question is that how do u install that tube that goes to the back of the water pump? it has a o-ring do i install the o-ring on the cross over tube (or what ever that tube is) do i put anything on it like a sealant or something???

also as far as timing i know to get the #1 piston TDC and on compression stroke now question is for my camshaft it has letters i just turn that to (A) to the point on the front camshaft housing??? also are these non interference engines??? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I put oil or coolant on the o-ring. The dowel pin on the end of the cam goes up. These are non interference engines. You should turn it to TDC #1 before taking anything apart. That way you know its good. If any doubts pull the dist. cap and make sure its pointing to #1.
