68 baja project (video)

well this is a bottom dollar budget project for me and a buddy it is a 68 with the autostick tranny. well tranny is toast so we pulled the engine and tranny out. working on gettin the 4-speed in. chopped the ass off of it. pulled the fenders. here is a few pics of the progress enjoy

The bus is sweet. Whats the autostick tranny?

autostick tranny is where you can switch gears and it uses a vacuum solenoid to work the clutch. so you still change gears but no clutch.

and im gonna find some pics of the bus when we first got it. it was in rough as shape.

Oh really. I didnt know they had that back then. I guess its the earlier model of that DSG transmission that VW has now.

there pretty rare and the parts for them are crazy expensive. like you can sale the dipstick for them for like 40 bucks. and the shifters for 40 bucks and some of the solenoids can go as high as 350 a pop.

well no updated pics but we got alot done today. we got the new pedal assembly in. fabbed up a clutch cable tube. swapped out the shifter and shifting rod. put the new tranny in. new axles. slapped the engine in and vwuala we went playin in the snow. was havin to much fun to take pics or vids plus it was dark and we didnt have any headlights so it would have just been black and loud. lol damn i forgot how much fun one of these things can be.

the plans on the bus is to daily it. nothing crazy. drop the front with some spindles bout 2.5 inches paint it white and black. do some interior work and pimp it.
