EGR, i would take it off and clean it out. most likely your problem , especially if you drove with bad gas for a while.
How would the EGR create a missfire?
if its clogged its not being recirced, and if your carb is tuned for the egr to work properly, its creates a miss, my acura missed (and its injected) til i cleaned it out, same with my buddies jetta, on your truck its easy enough to do it if iit works or not..
there was absolutly no sign of oil in the distributor?... it could also verry well be a bad coil see if you can get the specs on it from msd and diagnose it with a ohmeter also try hooking a pair of jumpercables from your block to the negative side of the battery (could have a bad ground) and check the resistance in your main fuse...thats where i ould start,,and yea jap. cars always run better on ngk..and north american on boch..(from my exp)
old plugs=less resistance,new plugs =more resistance.Old coil=weaker,cant overcome resistance except on 3/4 plugs =miss,especially under load Accel,decel,hard pull.BJ
I'll try putting in a new coil. All I have access to is an Accel coil until I can order something. I have heard MSD will burn it up?
possibility. I am running Accel on a modified motor and no miss at 5000 rpm on an 1/8th mile time trial so I think the Accel would be ok.BJ
I had a clogged EGR in my truck and its would start up just fine then turn to complete A**... i took it off and cleaned all the large chunks of carbon deposits and whatnot out and it ran like new...
Cool I will try that tomorrow. I also grabbed the other coil, and a compression tester.
