ok guys some of you know i am lookin at a clean-ass 87 with a sheared crankshaft. how much will it take to rebuild another motor or buy a new block for and just use the weber and headers and everything off this motor?

who does this type of work commercially locally as if you would say.

Not sure what sheared crankshaft means. If the crank is actually broken, there is all sorts of internal damage possible, most of which would make rebuilding that short blocknot feasible. If the keyway is sheared in the crank snout (which these engines are prone to do),a REAL good mechanic can actually repair the crank keyway, install a new key and send u on your merry way- for not much money.A good short block will set u back about 4-500,maybe less and u can use all your other stuff off the old engine.A complete new engine is real expensive.bj

I've had that woodruff key kinda just fall out. At first I thought the engine was toast cause the timing belt wasnt turning when cranking and it was turning over way to fast but took the pulley apart and noticed it had gotten loose some how, so I put it all back together and engine worked fine again.
