6 BTDC, just like Mazda says to run it at... I've had no better luck with the timing than it being at 6 degrees. I did'nt notice much of any performance gain by changing the timing. Having it at 6 degrees is better. You wont face the problem of carb spit-up and your emissions will be cleaner...

Timing is one of those things you should adjust with care.
HeX0rz said it the best, for the best performance set timing were it is recommend by factory.7 times out of 10 people say they get serious gains from adjusting the timing, there timing belts are wearing out and the adjustment is a very temporary cure.
I would recommend you set your base timing, then adjust the carb as needed. Also check you plug condition after a few days to if you are running to rich or lean. Perfect comdition should leave a color simular to a brown paper bag.

if a weber is all u have done,i would stick with the factory timing of 6 degrees BTDC.I hsve a hotter ignition , a 272 cam and some other mods and 5 degrees BTDC is where my truck has the best performance.BJ
