here's the scoop.
picked up a 91 b2200 about a week ago. truck is in amazing shape, just under 88000 km when i bought it. tonight it rolled over to 89000. at about 89005km the check engine light came on. it could have been at the 89000 mark, i just noticed it at 89005. anyways. the truck is running GREAT, nothing out of the ordinary. i've heard that there is an emissions warning that does come on -- is this whats happened? if so how do i fix it?
i did notice that the engine was low on oil (just below the 1st mark on the dipstick, so it was running low. could this have caused it as well? i topped it up. didnt change, lights still on, which leads me to believe this isnt it.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
check all your vacuum lines and sensors
the check engine light is used strickly for the EGR maintenance replacement interval at 80000 miles- 89000km or 120000 miles- The light automatically comes on at these intervals to remind you that EGR valve replacement is suggested. To make the light go off- locate the 1 pin connector underthe driver side of the dash board- it will have an empty unsued connector right beside it- switch these connectors, and the light is off!
awesome. thanks!
*edit*
worked like a charm. thanks a lot!
EGR reminder intervals are not the only reason it comes on.
