i hope someone here can answer this question for me, i am about to do a fe3 swap in my b2200, i have read that i can use a miata header instead of the crapy stock kia manifold. my question is what year miata header should i be looking for?
thanks
use a miata 1.8 liter header, from 94 on up. It bolts up with two newly drilled holes and some other ones elongated
thanks man, i was hopin you would post up, i got most of my info from your write up.
i'm gonna try and get an after market miata header, i want to turbo it later on with a miata turbo header
if you need any more info- just ask! Good luck!
thanks man, i do have alot of ?'s. mainly about the ms and edis stuff. i was reading on the ms site and it said it doesn't work with sequintial(sp) fuel injection but isn't that what the fe3 is? also what else do i need besides the ms to make it work, after reading the ms faq page it seamed like i would need to buy alot of other stuff to go with it
the fe3 is not a sequential fuel injected engine- so doen't worry about that. It's a batch fired system- with kia and mazda.
Perfect for MS.
To make MS work and edis work-
You'll need the ms control unit- MS2.
The wiring harness, you don't have to buy a relay board, just build the relay part yourself.
You'll need to make a crank trigger for edis, with the 36-1 toothed wheel.
A computer to tune with- and that's it man.
what about sensors, will i be using the stock kia ones? do i just wire them up to the ms?
in theory- all kia's sensors will work- perfectly with ms, the only ones I switched were the Intake air temperature sensor (IAT) and Cooloant Temperature Sensor (CLT) to GM units- very inexpensive and compatible with megasquirt's basic settings. The Kia ones can be used with a program called Easytherm which calibrates them to MS. But the stock throttle position sensor, o2 sensor, etc can all be used.
Even though this is a year late you can use the stock tubular kia sportage manifold that was used from 95-97 all you have to do is block of the egr tube if your using the later model ecu or MS stand alone.
