im gonna get a new trans for my 86 2000. i was lookin underneath it and i noticed the crossmember directly underneath the trans is welded on. is it possible to pull the trans without cutin.

I HAVE A 93', I PUT A NEW CLUTCH IN IT WAY BACK WHEN. I DON'T REMEMBER THE CROSS MEMBER BEING WELDED IN, I HAD TWO BOLTS, AND DROPPED THE X-MEMBER AND THEN DROPPED THE TRANNY. U SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET IT OUT THO WITH A LITTLE TRIAL AND ERROR.

i have a 86 B2000 and that cross member was held in place with 4 bolts/nuts and 2 on the tranny if its welded in someone did it

Check out my post on using rx7 transmissions - it's possible for your truck to use a rx7 trans- just a thought don't really know what you had planned but it's an option

the more I look at it the more it does look like backyard welds. and yea i plan on putin a rotary motor in it, thats just gonna be the shit. thx for lookin out you guys.

The crossmember right behind the tranny crossmember is welded in unless it's a auto then you dont have the 5spd tranny mount it uses the welded in crossmember with a bracket off of it...
