are you guys usin for aluminum
i need to polish my new radiator
its some some water stains on it
i was thinking like 1400 grit or maybe 1600
you could start with emery cloth and then go from there. probabaly better off uses a few stages of standing before buffing
emory cloth is pretty rough. i use it daily to clean copper pipe for sweating (im a plumber, if you didn't already know haha) there are plenty of products on the market to clean it up without sanding or extreme measures to get water spots out. i used to have some buillet wheels. i used never-dull on them. would make them spotless just took alot of elbow grease and time.
emory is too coarse i just need a very light sanding..it polished i just need the stains gone
try alumabrite.... just dont let it dry on there
we've got a guy that comes and polishes radiators and fuel tanks sometimes, uses REAL fine like 2000 grit on a D.A. and then a big industrial benchtop polisher with some sort of rouge.
i've got a mothers powerball and a couple kinds of mothers polish and it works real good on chrome and aluminum. the powerball is like a foam sponge, so its not soft like a rag. its a bit coarse.

I would start with the finest paper you can get 2000- 4000 somewhere in there. and then work you way down. if 2000 works it will be easier to polish then 1500 or 1000. But at what ever point you get to that it takes the spots off go back over it with what ever the finest paper you got to make polishing it easier.
