nope, The hardner is there for a chemical reaction. best to chip it out and start over.

At least bondo is somewhat cheapish. When you start over make sure you have a CLEAN & ROUGH surface so the bondo has something to stick to.

Stupid question here but did you weld the holes shut or are you just trying to use bondo here

no matter how rough or thick you make the batch its not going to last long. id suggest welding up the holes and then maybe using a very light and thin coat to fill in the voids. bondo isn't really a good bulk filler.

DONT just use bondo to fill the holes it WILL crack

i hope he welded the holes in. like andrew said it really isnt made to fill huge holes or gaps. you definitly have to remove the old stuff before you add another coat. otherwise it will fail to adhere to the metal and fall off

Bondo should only be spread a few millimeters thick at most

It is a chemical reaction but you can put too little hardner in it or too much. I mix bondo almost every day and never get it the same twice. You can mix it perfect and if it is cold out it will take forever to cure or if its hot it will skim over before you can get it spread out. If it doesnt dry after 30 mins then I would take it out and put more hardner in the next batch. and if you wait quite awhile and start sanding it and it just gums up the sandpaper i would take it out and do it over.

Depends a lot on what your using. bondo brand bondo throw it away. EverCoat Rage Gold is good for 1/4 (6.5mm) inch if you need it. Kitty hair or Duraglass, both reinforced with fiberglass are good for 1/2 (13mm)and then you and put regular on top so thats 3/4 if you HAD to. I dont recomend it one bit. It just depends on if your going to do it the right way or not. Hell I have spread bondo over an inch think on a race car in a few spots and once it was wreaked again the bondo was still fine, and yet I have seen other repairs fail with less then 1mm on it because it wasnt sanded right or mixed wrong.
