so my computer took a dive...

i built the thing like 9 years ago when i was 16, and over the years i have had 4 different internal hard drives, used win98 once, gone thru 2 copies of winXP, 2 or 3 motherboards, 2 graphics cards, and 2 power supplies... ive spent countless dollars keeping my computer in an atleast functional state... i was at walmart the other day and seen an eMachines pc with 2gb ram, 1.3ghz processor, 160gb hard drive, an nvidia graphics card, 1 gigabit ethernet built in, 5 usb ports on the front, 4 in the back, several multimedia readers on the front, and a cd/dvd-rw with labelflash... all for $300... would probably have cost me 3 times that to rebuild my computer with all new parts... damn walmart and their sometimes pretty damn good deals... the pc even came with a keyboard, mouse, and powered speakers... oh and windows vista... not too sure so far if i really like it or not... and this new desktop is like 1/4 the size of my old one...

while you were at Walmart you should have bought a cheap computer desk too!

Nah, with the money you saved at walmart, you could have money left over for beer, and to follow the 3 R's (reduce, reuse, recycle) you could make a desk of two fours!

there isnt anything wrong with my snap loc lidded storage bin as a desk. lol. even tho i did save money at walmart... that doesnt mean i had the extra money at the time for a desk... lol

lol, you got the same cd burner in your old computer that I put in mine, I had a cd/dvd burner in it that took a dive on me right after the warranty went bad, & I had my old one layin around and couldnt do without a burner so I put it in there till I can afford another one, sad thing is my new one, i burned maybe 1000 cd's with & it coped out & my old one's had about a million cd's burned on it, & still works as good as when I got it many years ago, lol. Just goes to show ya they dont make anything as good as they used to anymore, lol
