i get down to seatac this mornin for work and right after i make the needed u-turn to get to the lot where we keep our shuttle buses... somethin brakes in the shifter area in the truck leaving me stuck in second gear... im hopin its not that i fried the tranny but somethin simple... i get in my bus and go about my day tryin to run thru my head what could possibly be the problem... when i finally got off work i go back to the truck and start pulling the pieces out to give me dead access to where the shifter goes into the tranny... the little block attached to the rod that the shifter operates... that little box that is held to the gear selector shaft with a roll pin... and guess what... well half the damn roll pin was still on the gear input shaft... the other half layin right in fingers grasp inside the tranny... and the little block that the gear shift goes in... not even on the damn gear selector rod in the tranny... stupid roll pin broke into two pieces leavin me broke down right across the street from a schucks... unfortunately schucks didnt have the right size roll pin that i needed so i had to hoof it like 3 blocks... big whoop... to get the correct pin... 45mins later i was outta there!!!

had a ooooooooooooold volkswagon fastback....68 as I recall.........anyways.....it got locked in 4th gear....so i wrote "0-60 in 8.2 hours" on the rear glass....nobody ever tried to race me or got behind me. LOL!

glad ya got it fixed and back home...and ya learned about roadside repairs!

I fixed a harley shifter one time with some leather binds to get a friend back in to town to get fixed properly
