Alright. So, like I said, I'm kind of out of the scene, but will always hang around.
For the last little while I've been getting things ready for my move out west. Sold off almost everything I don't need, getting money saved up and my unemployment insurance finally kicked in this week. Spent a few bucks repairing my truck a little. Just had to get a new battery as the extreme cold pooched my original 7 year old battery, and just got a bit of a tune up done, checking all the fluids, oil change, new plugs, cleaned my K&N filter, checked the brakes and everything.
Applied for my passport the other day and should have that sent to me by the 28th.
I have a side job coming up within the next week or so for this lady I have already been doing some cash work for. I have to finish drywalling, prepping and painting the basement apartment in her house and she's going to be paying me about $1500. Once that job is complete and I have money in my pocket and everything packed up, I'm looking to be hitting the road in early to mid February to drive out to Calgary.
Economy is piss poor in Ontario and I've applied for over 20 jobs since Christmas and only got 3 callbacks, yet I'm still unemployed. Even if things aren't as strong as they have been in Alberta, I still have a better chance at getting some decent work as well as some work skills training while I am on unemployment. I just need to get out of here, so it finally seems like this is going to happen sooner rather than later.
Figured I would drop in and let you all know what's up. As for today, it's my 23rd birthday and I'm on my way out to go pick up my best friend whose birthday is tomorrow so we can have one last party before I leave.

best of luck man, but be careful with your money eh. Everything out west costs more. A house that would go for $250,000 in ontario would go for $600,000 in calgary, plus groceries and other supplies can cost twice as much.
Have you considered going to school. The provincial gov't in ontario has a program called Second Career that will train people for better jobs through post secondary education. The gov't can cover all costs, and even subsidize living expenses up to $28,000 a year i think. that way you don't have to uproot and move.
One more thing, the economy is hurting everywhere, not just ontario. My uncle is as engineer for Suncor, the company that develops the oil sands in calgary, and he said since oil prices have dropped so much, they temporarily shut down the oil sands because right now it costs more to make a barrel of oil than it does to sell it. Check workopolis or monster for job openings before heading out.
