I get 2 weeks every 6 months while i am overseas and they say not to come back to the states so i can stay tax free for the year. so i am going to fly the wife and kids out to germany and i was wondering where are the coolest places to check out. we both love the mountains and castles but have never seen them in person. only pics on the net. if you guys know of anything please let me know. thanks.

I've been around Germany as well as pretty much all of western Europe.
It's really nice there no matter where you go. We stayed overnight in Munich while our tour was passing through Germany as well as a couple other small towns.
Pretty much all of Germany is a point of interest. Probably want to stick to the larger cities for touristy stuff, but if you really want to be blown away, go to Switzerland instead.

Yeah you will like it man. I went all over western Europe last year. Personally I liked Munich the best, the weather was the nicest, and in my opinion the easiest to get around compared to the other cities I visited. Also check out Berlin, and Wolfsburg and take a tour of the VW Autostradt since you are into cars! that was a really cool but windy place.
Basically the Autostadt is like a park with marketing displays for Audi, VW & Lamborghini
Here is a pick of the Autostadt - link
A cool feature is if you are a customer and you go to pick up your car they bring it down these big silos to you at the bottom.
I really want to go back out there if you do go to Munich you really have to go to the beer gardens, the atmosphere was great, everyone was just singing and relaxing just having a good time.

If you bring the family over at christmas time, you HAVE to take them to Nuremburg. They have the largest christmas market there. you can walk for days and not see everything. if you enjoy skiing, go to Garmisch. they have the best slopes. Frankfurt is a normal tourist attraction, but they do have woderful sights. I believe there is a castle in wolfsburg that walt disney built his castles from. the north part of the country i really dont know too much about, as i spent most of my time in the southern part. was there as a child with my father and as a soldier myself. germany as a whole is a beauitiful place to visit. I believe that if you bring the wife there, she will appreciate you more!

If it is summer time I would suggest Stockholm. Super nice weather, awsome people, and even better food & beer. The wife will love the old downtown for shopping. Plus they have an old old ship called the vasa that was resurected from the muck back in the 80's and is still being restored. I really thought is was pretty kool. Oh and if you have the money there is a SUPER fancy and expensive restaurant that the king of Sweden eats at that is friggin awsome. Now keep in mind Sweden is not like most of europe as in they are covvered under a hard freeze, darkness, and snow for about 7 months and only have like 2 and a half months of warm weather....so they celebrate it. I know that our factory over there gets like 3 to 4 weeks off in the summer for this. Crazy fun.
