well, i was heading home last night from the bar, and i was debating to take the highway, or the back roads and at the last second i chose the highway, i merged on and cut to the left lane and stomped on it, and as i was going up the mountain i started to lose power, so i i down shifted to 4th, and it got worse, i put the clutch in and started pumping the gas, it was backfiring, stuttering and farting, at the same time it started over heating, i pulled on to the shoulder and stopped it was idleing fine then i let out the clutch and started bogging and backfiring again, then when the truck cooled down it ran a little better, and i got it off the highway, and stopped at my parents house, the engine had a nice new knock to it and still ran rough at 3000rpm and higher, i put a liter of oil in it and took the risk getting it to my place, it was running better in town, but as soon as i hit the highway again, so did the problems, but i did get it home and took it to work this morning and it ran fine other then the knock, but i dont know how long the motor is to last
i have another motor and transmission for it but for what its worth to change it over i might as well buy another one, and i dont know how good the motor and tranny is anyways
so im not happy on the hunt for truck #11

i thought my clutch master went out today... so i replaced it and then once i got it bled down... i heard squealing and chattering and it was hard to shift. my throwout bearing is shot. so im gonna go get a clutch kit and just replace it all at one time.... might just swap out my slave cylinder as well while im at it... do it all at the same time i guess.
sorry bout your luck though

Hey Mike, That's exactly what my truck did. Check your primary catalytic converter ( the one straight off the exhaust) It's probably all plugged up. It ended up doing in my headgasket and warping my head from overheating my truck.

yeah i replaced it when i got my ext cab, because i had no clutch pedal. and that was 6-8 months ago. so now that i need a new clutch and already put a new clutch master, i figured why not just replace the whole shebang in one easy shot.
good luck on getting your truck fixed.

damn mike that's shitty. Atleast you made it back without having to get a tow.
I just spent $1650 getting my clutch, slave, rear brakes and u-joints replaced on my truck last week. Unfortunately,on my truck, the slave is on the inside.
Pay me $400 a week and I'll be your chauffeur and grease monkey helper. lol
