it seems anything i own has this built in force that steers bad luck my way. im starting to get tired of it and think that i should just get some beat ass honda to drive everyday. from having both of my mazdas get plowed into the side of the bed, my old ranger getting broke into and getting f-d with all the time, my nl320 getting vandalized years ago, a tree branch falling on my L320 a few months ago, and just yesterday on my birthday someone did a hit and run on my 1200. it was a fender i just replaced last week and really pisses me off. it seems like i cant try to make anything nice anymore because it always gets screwed up. im just tired of putting hard work and money into something that i know something bad is going to happen to it. sorry, just had to vent.

I highly recommend getting a daily, I had the same stuff happen to my Ranger. A lot depends on where you live. I used to drive it daily in Atlanta so I was always in heavy traffic. Things just happen, and they happen to everyone. My Ranger wasn't ready for paint, but it's frustrating having a fully shaved ranger and then someone hits your roll pan in the parking lot, or running over retread going 70mph on the interstate (yeah huge dent along the side).

Just get a daily man, I'm over the whole drive it thing after it's painted, maybe if I didn't live/work in the city, and there wasn't much traffic.

i know that things could be a lot worse and im probably just overreacting but its just getting really discouraging. this car is my daily but ive just been trying to fix it up to be a little more respectable looking. i love driving old datsuns but dont want it to look like most of the old beat up datsuns that you see on the road and just add to the stereotype that people think of when they see a datsun. i kinda want to get a different beater daily but its kinda hard to give up the almost 40mpg i get outa this car.

so true. Kermit was my daily ride, and I had it broken into at work and had my stereo and some money stolen out of it, hit debris on the highway at 70mph,damaging my custom made exhuast and lots of other annoying little things, like locking my keys in the truck and using a screwdriver to pop my door lock cylinder and break into my own truck, or just daily reliability issues with a crappy stock carb with rough idle, bogging out.

Couldn't park the truck anywhere in public without it gathering crowds or attracting attention, and couldn't drive it anywhere without being a cop magnet.

Driving that truck every day was a pain in the ass really. So I bought a bone stock Nissan Hardbody and drove that for a few months. Made life so much easier, albeit boring. I sold it, and drove the Mazda again as a daily for a couple more months having problem after problem, so I bought a Cadillac Catera as a daily driver. Things were going smooth with that until major engine troubles unexpectedly arose and forced me to sell the car cheap, while still owing the majority of the loan on it right now.

But anyways Layedout,I empathise with you, because all my other rides always got vandalized or wrecked or something shitty happen to them. Basically it comes down to people just not giving a shit. It's a part of life and it sucks. We do out best to protect what is ours, but where there's a will there's a way,and someone will eff it up sooner or later.

On a good note, at least the signal lens didn't get smashed, sheet metal is a "little" easier to repair than finding a good lens. I understand what your going through, right after I shaved the 4x4 bed on my old mazda, a chick hit it and ripped my tailight right out, then 2 weeks after I fixed it a pizza guy hit my truck and smashed the same taillight out again( and dented the box corner all to shit). Sorry to hear about your bad luck
