So I go into work this afternoon like usual. Everyone gets there and upper management walks into the lunch room...

...just to tell uf effective today,we are temporarily layed off on a 3 to 6 week shut down, due to supplier issues causing a lack of material and overall, lack of work for us,and that it will take 3 weeks to install all of out new machinery to make out plant self sufficient to eliminate the need of our suppliers.

Kind of a low blow really. There was no warning, but we are guaranteed our jobs. So this is just annoying because I can't apply for unemployment for 2 weeks until I get my ROE after my NEXT paycheck with my layoff status.

In the meantime,I guess I'm going to have to find a local temp job until we get called back to work.

Oh well,I need the break from that place anyways. I'm too young to have the stress level I have.

The next month will be tough, but as long as I can pick up a temp job for $10-12/hr to make it through til I go back to my job,I'll be alright.

I'll just check out Adecco,Liberty and Manpower tomorrow and see what they've got. I'm hoping I can get back into JCI where I used to work when I first joined Bscene. That would be a total bonus, but I know they are on a 2 week shut down right now.

Unfortunately this means the truck has to sit on the sidelines til I go back to my job and make real money again.

lol,no it's not the US's fault..it's entirely our metal supplier's fault. We have 3 suppliers, all who are within a 30 minute to 2 hour drive away, yet they can never get us our material on time, therefore we keep running out of material, and end up not having enough work for 2 shifts. For the last 2 months,it's been a continous cycle of day shift producing huge production numbers, but running the line completely dry. By the time I come in for afternoons,we're left with nothing to do,except refill the line,so we have 2 to 3 hours of downtime every night where we have to restock and refill the line before they can begin building again. Obviously, our numbers don't compare to the day shift's,so it seems like day shift builds, and afternoon shift restocks just for them, because by the time we've got everything restock and ready to build again, the night is atleast half over.

So,for the next 3 weeks,my shift is cancelled, but the day shif is continuing to work for another week or 2,and then the day shift is being shut down due to lack of work. Once the day shift is shut down,we go on a 3 week retooling shutdown, where we are having a bunch of new machinery installed. The most important of the new equipment is new roll forming machines,so we can make all of our own metal inhouse and do away with the need of suppliers,so we become self sufficient, and any down time is our own fault.

I'm off work all this week, and I should find out this week or next week where and when my temp job begins. I'll either be back at jci where I used to work,or another factory in the area.
