I know this is possible on the Semis and other large vehicles that I work with, and it minimizes clutch wear. Is this possible with the R4 mazda 4x4 transmission? or will it trash my synchros?
Dang! I hope it don't kill it ! I do it all the time! Especially upper rpm! Between 4th n 5th on interstate!
I drive tractor trlr and do not recommend this in pretty much our trucks or cars for that matter.I have driven my b2200 for 25yrs and never floated or skip shifted bc the wear is so minimal over the real life of the clutch in comparison to big trks mileage and wear.No gain, and may do more damage trying to match the rpm to speed since it is pretty hard to hear the diff (and yeah I tried and a pain).I shift on sound not the tach or spd it is just feel.10 yrs doing so and for me as a driver you just know when to shift.
That's what I had heard. And yeah its a lot different in semis, 13-18 speeds as opposed to 5 lol. and the torque those bad boys put out would send synchros flying through the floor :S
