In my truck when your looking out the rear view mirror when its dark out, i get a reflection off the back window of the dash and windshield. Its like i can see the road ahead of me through the mirror. If the streets are well lit or there's a car close enough behind me its normal and you can whats behind me, but if its dark just the reflection of the front. Cleaned the windows and mirror multiple times and also held up other mirrors inside, to see the same outcome. Is this the same with all our trucks? Anyone with any input would be greatly appreciated.

I assume that your truck is a regular cab. I've seen that in other brands of regular cabs as well. I think it's caused by the distance between the rear view mirror and the rear window. Is the rear window tinted?

I've got the same problem with mine too. It's a regular cab with a cap (canopy) on the back. Not sure if that makes it worse, but back in the 1990s when I had my 1986 B2000, it was a regular cab too (but no cap on the back) and I don't recall having that issue.

If anyone knows, would tinting the windows help? I'm thinking of tinting the side windows and rear window of the cap (probably quite dark). I was not going to bother with the rear slider window in the cab or the cap, but maybe I will. I was also not going to tint the front driver and passenger roll-down windows. It's legal to do so where I live, but this summer I might be moving to a place where it's not legal.

Right, my truck is a 1986 b2000 regular cab no tint. Maybe next ill try polishing the rear window real good and see if that helps. I'll let you know if i find a solution to this. Thanks for the feedback guys, if anyone else has any ideas please reply.

Try dimming your dash lights to make the cab darker?
Darker display setting on stereo if possible.

Maybe at night turn the radio off and dim the display all the way down and see if it makes a difference.

I'm not sure about others, but with me, it's not a problem of the dash lights, it's a reflection of the road in front of me. It sounds weird, but you look into your center mounted rear view mirror and see a somewhat clear view of the road AHEAD of you! Dimming dash lights or cleaning the windows and mirrors won't help that. I think it's just the way it is in a small, regular cab truck. As previously suggested, it may be due to the short distance between the mirror and back window. In a Cab Plus, that little bit of extra space makes a difference.

Although I don't recall having this issue in my previous 1986 B2000 regular cab. It didn't have a cap on the back, but my 1989 B2200 does. Shouldn't make a difference. I want to tint the back window and the windows in the cap anyways, so I'll see if that makes a difference.

Mine is also very bad in our 91 2600i 4X4 but on my 2200 the windows are tinted and i dont have the bounce back from the lights

That's exactly how mine is justsomeguy. Still haven't figured out a solution to it , dimming the lights had no effect. I don't have a cap on mine. If you end up tinting them and it helps let me know. Did your '86 B2000 have the split windows in the rear?

My 1986 B2000 regular cab had a 1 piece window, whereas my current 1989 B2200 regular cab has a split (sliding) rear window. I would like to get the windows tinted to see if that will make a difference. As soon as I do that (if I get around to doing it, lol), I'll report back on whether or not it made a difference.
