all chevy and gmc rearends that are 6 lug are 1/2 ton 4x4 rearends.
inless you get one from a truck from the 50's or 60's some of them are non 4x4 6lug rearends but they have the "drop-out" punkin.
1/2 ton 2x4 truck all have 5 lug..
and all 8 lug are 3/4 ton..if 4x4 or not
hope that helps..

when changing trans, driveshaft, rearends, from other autos.. the best and safest thing to do is take your rearend yoke, and driveshaft and the measurment from trans tail cone to yoke bolt to a driveline shop and have them make the right u-joints to make it all fit and work right for you, i have had about 5 of them done that way. as i have put v8's in things ppl say "it wont fit" and my T-Bucket with chevy trans/driveline to ford 9inch rearend and then updated it to a jag rearend. so had to do it all again with the right u-joint. i am in the chat here right now if you want to talk about it more.
