I have just got ahold of a set of 17x7 Yukon wheels and have run into a little problem. The center of the wheel is not large enough to allow the metal peices on the hub to clear. The lug pattern is right. Has anyone run these wheels on there 86-93 B2200 before and what must i do to get these wheels the set flush?
You just need to get the center of the wheel bored to fit the Mazda hub. Where do you live? Maybe some guys here in your area can recommend a machine shop to do it for you, it generally in expensive to have done.
You can also grind down the tabs on your rotors and drums.
you have to do one of the above for all GM wheels to fit our trucks
you can also bore themyourself
search youtube for "boring escalade wheel"
it's the same thing you need to do
I had thought about taking my grinder to the metal center tabs. Would this cause any problems with the centering if the wheel when mounted onto the truck? Do the lugs center up the wheel when bolted down?
lol there is alot of mixed feelings on this subject... some think grinding tabs put to much stress on the lugs, and some think boring the center hole to fit over the tabs makes the rim weak... blah blah blah.. Both have been done and both have had good results for alot of people over years of running them either way... if you take them to any machine shop they should not charge you any more then a hundred bucks for all for rims to be bored out.. tabs free, either way you have to buy new lugs that will fit in the rim and those will center the will..
I will have to get new lugs? Studs or nuts? Both?
Thanks guys for your help on this subject. I am going to do some grinding and save the money for beer.
Just make sure you find the right Lugs. This is a must.
