yeah thats the abs module. mounts under the driver's seat.

the ecu is a light grey colour, slightly bigger and mounted in the passengerkick panel.

Well here is my take on ABS and my truck... the ABS that was supplied with my 1990 Mazda more or less adjusted the amount of braking the rear brakes provided based on the height of the rear suspension. More weight in the bed, the more rear brake powered supplied.

Now given the fact that my rear suspension goes up and down around 9 inches I don't see where this setup would be of much use. Along with the fact that my bed seems to have a really big hole in it and not much good at hauling stuff.

Again, just my point of view.

ABS senses abrupt deceleration of the differential.
There is no sensor input for ride height.

I have no use for ABS here in Vegas, where the roads are almost always dry.
If you are having issues with the rear end sliding when you're on the brake, anti-lock will help with that.
If it's just the light on your dash that's pissin' you off, unplug the control and the light should go out.

If u r livin in a place where there are traction issues on the roads such as snow, ice, or lots of rain,ABS is a good idea. The sensor "reads" the rear wheel traction when the brakes are applied and uses the proportioning valve to adjust the rear wheel braking. As I have swapped ends with trucks without ABS on heavy braking in bad weather, I am a big fan and want mine on and working. If u dont drive ur dog in bad weather or mostly show it like Linn, not much use.If it is on and working properly, the lite on the dash is "on" only when ABS is on. any other time and ur sensor isnt working and needs to be replaced OR u have a problem with ur rear brakes.BJ
