Can anyone tell me if a Lincoln/Miller MIG 140~ has enough power to do the frame welding involved with 4linking, notching, ect..??
i dont think it will burn hot enough..
Its possible to do frame work with that, lots of people do, but generally a 110v welder is not recommended for frame work.
i use a 220 for frame work and a 110 for sheet metal
Damn, 220's seem so expensive...Was hoping I could get away under $500 on a welder.
i roll a lincon 170t and it is upto the task, but i wouldnt want to go any lower.
the little 170 is outdated tho and i think the new version is the 180
I was assuming the 180 was a 110, but have since realized they are 220...I'll probably pick one of those up when I'm ready to buy.
I have a Thermal Arc 180 (220v) that has done just fine on all my frame work. You can't weld 1/4" metal all day long continuously but as long as your taking a break for 10-20 min or so inbetween long welding sessions then you will be fine! Thermal Arc is a sister company to lincoln and was about $200 cheaper then miller or lincoln and came with a 5yr warranty compared to the 3yr they offer.
