so i bought 5" blocks from airbagit.com has anyone used them? i plan on cuttin the bumpstops and prolly ride on frame till i notch it. any input will help
My input? Don't buy 5" blocks. Most say they are dangerous. Besides that, why in the world would you? Just remove the 2 middle leaves and throw in 3" blocks and you're slammed to within a 1/2" of hitting the frame to axle anyway.
very dangerous and not a good idea at all... axle worp, carrier bearring stress, pinion angle f'ed up
send that shit back dude, thats asking for nothing but trouble.
One of the trucks I bought this year was lowered with stacked 2 and 3" blocks. The rear end swayed all over the place. That thing was a death trap. Even 5" of solid blocks isn't much better.
As said above, just go with 3" blocks and pull 2 leaves. Look at the 2 trucks in my sigs. Those are both 3" blocks with 2 leafs taken out.
ok then how will i get my money back?lol and i removed the torsions till i get new t bolts and removed my front bumpstops. so removin the middle leafs will even it out?
you removed the torsions and the front bumpstops. Please tell me you dont drive liike that. lol. And yes remove the two leafs. will deffinetely even things out.
wow. you really shouldnt have a minitruck if you're doing stuff like that.
For one, you can RETURN the blocks, or EXCHANGE them. What a genius idea!
And put those torsion bars back in. Actually, before you do, reindex them and then put them back in. Then you'll be low without your bolts hanging down so far below the frame.
For the leafs, leave the large main leaf and the tiny helper leaf. Remove everything inbetween. Usually 1 or 2 leafs depending on the truck.
This stuff isn't rocket science and these are probably some of the easiest trucks to lower cheaply and safely.
ok the reason behind my not having torsions is cuz i was reindexing and the bolts broke so i gotta fix that. and no i dont drive it cuz theres no motor in it.lol big work in progress.
good for you dude, you didnt take their answers as being dicks ( i would have) and just responded to the issues. like they said the bigger the block the more the issues. it pushes the leaf farther away and closer to the ground which could hit the ground and cause issues or get you hung up on something. putting smaller blocks in and removing the leafs will flatten the leaf pack out and give you the ride height you are looking for. you can always throw some air shocks on the rear for some adjustability for the time being. for the front once you put the tortion bars back in you can get out the trusty grinder and cut the whole bump stop mount off the front of the frame. itll give you loads more room for suspension travel and will get you one step closer to eventually bagging it. then with a shorter shock itll ride great.
yea i was gonna go to vato zone and get some izuzus. umm would it be ok to drive without torsions till i get the t bolts. and where could i get them?
