Here for one more month I seem to have a lot of time on my hands and if I get up early enough in the a.m. I can get a lot of crap done to my truck in one day, lot of stuff being installed that I've had sitting in my garage waiting for me to find time. Well I've got the front almost done and now the stereo too, worked on the C-notch cover almost ready to paint, three coats of fiber glass and 3 coats of body filler, finishing the final sanding in the morning but once painting I want to smooth out the bed next. I'm heard of strecthin felt first then couple layers of glass on top then body fill, but I'm thinking that would add an ass load of weight. I have some thin sheet metal I've thought about tacking in there but didn't know what most other guys use. So any ideas or info on whats the best way to go about this with out adding a crap load of weight , would be great.

You are gonna fiberglass the bed floor? ? ? I have never heard of anyone doin that. . I have heard of drillin holes in sheetmetal and layin it over your stock floor and spot we;ding it on but you gotta do it good or it can rattle really bad. . .

i'm going to try something i saw on speed channel's show truck u. they made some body panels for a jeep rock crawler out of .040" clear lexan. they cut it with a sheet metal shear, bent it 90 on a brake, drilled trough it, all super simple. to finish it, they painted the inside, which is totally cool, then the paint can not be scratched off. they hung their panels with zip ties, all tube jeep, simple. i plan on using rivets to hold the panels in place. how much could 2 sheets of lexan weigh? 10 lbs? i think i saw a site that sold it for like $80 a 4x8 sheet.
anyway, just an idea.
i've been working with plexiglass a lot lately and i want to do some cool stuff with that to my truck but i'm not super sure what i want to do yet.
