G5 engines REALLY suck!

I just installed a G5 replacement engine in my 4x4 92 B2600i. What a piece! Runs fine but is much noiser than a G6 and WOW, you can really feel the lack of power. I think its only like 20hp less, but shit... the thing won't get out if its own way! If you find yourself in this position, find a G6 or rebuild your block. I'll be dumping this engine as soon as I possibly can!

did you put a pontiac g5 engine in?

G6 is the model designation for the Maz 2.6 liter ,120 hp,fuel injected mota.G5 is also a Maz mota,not the new Pontiac car designated G5.That car has a pretty potent powerplant .bj

SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION. The G5 is the JDM version of the G6 and a common replacement engine. I had a bad head on my G6 and thought I would do the whole truck a favor and swap out the engine with a low mileage G5. It has like 20HP less, but I really didn't care on paper as I use the truck for utility. The problem is the loss of torque moving all the 4x4 components really dogs the engine down. I cant believe the difference! I am rebuilding the G6 block and will swap it back out asap. Just wanted to warn anyone considering this swap that you will notice a SIGNIFICANT drop in power. Feels like a 2200 engine with a full bed full of bricks.
