Pics of my front set up, help!!!

hey guys, here is what i have so far, i know i need to start a project post too cause i have more progress pics. my concern here is the lower bag plate stabbing the bag, should i trim the big thick metal strap or trim the lower bag mount? or???? its only tacked in so i can easly move anything.

Looks to me like the bottom is fine, but rather the top needs to be redone. I think you may need to trim it shorter and then relocate it lower and make it sit parallel to the bottom bracket so the bag is straight and will collapse on itself with no issues.

EDIT: Also, you don't have to have the big L bracket on the bottom either. I don't remember what the purpose for it was, but someone on here should be able to tell you...

First off Take out your torsion bars, if you havent already, its hard to tell by the picture if you have or not.....And i'd get that Lower Control arm UP as high as possible for the best drop. NOW, Using 2 jacks. I would jack the truck up of the Driver side right on the frame right by the front cab mount, and keep the second jackyou have under the lower control arm as it is, but raise it up a good height (the jack under the control arm) and then the first jack thats under the frame by the cab mount, Slowly lower that until the control arm is up as far as it'll go. this will insure you've got the most drop you can get, will the lower control being up 100%

From there I would drill a decent size hole in the lower control arm, and weld the Lower plate right to the lower control arm, front and back, and underneath abit if possible, and eliminate the L bracket underneath the lower bag bracket.

Now with the Lower control arm fully up as i said in the first paragraph, you can take the upper bag bracket and Make it Parrallel with eachother, So make the upper bracket the same angle (or closest possible as the lower) and then of course make sure one on top of the other, thats obvious though. And don't forget your Gussets as well.

And that should be it! and Should lay frame on atleast 17"s if the Upper brackets placed properly for the most amount of drop. the fenders will need to be cut out, but other then that your laughin'!! Hope this might help.

...interesting. But, in order to establish the postion of the upper bracket, do you just use the max collapsed height of the bag and measure from the bottom to top and tack it in?

...therefore when the bag is collapsed completely that is when the truck lays and can then take advantage of max lift?

Of course you'd use a fully collapsed bag in there, you want the best drop possible the lower control arm up as far as it can go, and upper bag mount mounted with a fully collapsed bag.... Why wouldnt you?... Unless your not interested in much lift. he's Using RE bags... he'll have plenty.
