Any difference to drop a 4x4?

i know this is a little unusual but here me out. ive been searching for an ext cab truck to bag and bd. ive never done it before so i was looking for something cheap to build up something not running and so on. ive been searching for awhile and everytime i find one it gets gone, or like today isnt worth trying to fix up.

so today i go to buy a 4x4 bed and fenders for when i find my ext cab. this truck was an ext cab so i started thinking maybe i could buy the whole truck and bag it - but didnt know if there were any real differences. but one fender was unrepairable, the bed was rusted out bad, the frame was almost broke all the way into and the engine was blown and interior was shot. however on the way back i found another one sitting in someones yard looked to have been there awhile, also 4x4 ext cab. so i was thinking if i could get the whole truck for a decent price wouldnt it be the same to drop as a 2wd? im thinking if anything maybe the front hubs would be different, which i have a 2wd parts truck already. i figure i could rip out the 4x4 stuff and be about the same? just wanted to check, like ive said i havent had any luck finding an ext cab, and ran across a 4x4 so....didnt know if it would be worth my time?

What I would do if in your situation, Keep looking. Its going to be so much trouble to change the front suspension over to a 2wd, the contoral arms mount differnetly and if I remember correctly I think the frame is differnet cause of the transfer case. You say you never done this before, don't jump in to far on your first. I say don't do it.

dont do it its gonna be way more work than you probly want to do.

2wd mazdas are everywhere and if your paitient you will find the one your looking for.

ugh i was afraid yall would say that. haha. yea i know one day something will turn up just getting impatient, im ready to get some hands on and learn how to do a bag and bd set up. just figured i would check maybe i can at least pick up the fenders and bed off this other truck i found. well thank you for your help guys. and so the search continues..........

hey thanks nick for keeping an eye out. i emailed them about it hopefully will hear back soon, if not it will be next weekend b4 i could make the trip fayetville is about 4-5 hrs from me. im stuck workin weird hrs right now since everything is slow and wont have a chance to drive that far during the week. thanks for the find again.

If I find anything else I'll let you know. I bought my 90 cab plus a couple of months ago locally for $900. I have never paid over $1000 for a mazda. They are out there just have to look.

yea dude keep me posted if ya find something, ive been searching craigslist but ive been looking within about a 200 mile driving distance. yea ive never paid over 1000 either, ive got 2 reg cabs now one i bought a few yrs ago for 650 the other i got for 250. just wish it was that easy to find ext cab.
