So as some of you know I recently purchased a parts truck, and here is how it went down.
hey man i seen your name on street source and figured i would show you my 83, its also for sale and didnt know if you would be interested i would like 1500 im only the 2nd owner of it, it has original window sticker and original sales reciept its in very good condition hit me up if your interested.
So I replyed, "damn, well I don't need the eskies on your truck which are worth about $400. So I would let you keep them. Would you take $1100 picked up, if I could get more pics of the body and interior."
it runs and drives great the only things wrong with the truck it been setting for about 4 months its developed a little miss probably just stale gas but it will fire right up it needs brakes on the front and the master cylinder needs rebuilt($12) the truck was bought in the state washington by my teachers father he was the first owner he owned it for several years and moved to Hillsboro,ohio which is where the truck is he owned it 23 years until he passed away i purchased it off his son which was my teacher last year and done all the work to it.. it has good heat it has original air/conditioning believe it or not and it works lol it needs recharged but it does work but the interior is in great shape, also if i put the stock wheels and tires back on this truck it will have to be trailored wherever you live the tires are huge lol

Take about 3 hours, definatly keep some more pics of it up as I'm highly interested...
Mainly all of the body panels, the bottom of the doors and the front valence and what not. Once you get those pics and we finalize stuff we will set up everything/."
Take note on what this says....
the body is pretty straight for its age but dont get me wrong theres little dents and dings and things like that and the cab corner does need redone, the truck was up in a shop and we werent getting the truck done fast enough so we just got it presentable and got it up out of there but it does look good and it just needs more body work mainly but thats why im asking 1500 ya know its a sweet ass little truck though for sure

"thats cool, get me pics of the requested areas and just more overall shots of the engine, interior and exterior and we will go from there."
So at this point, I am talking him down since I don't need his wheels. I been waiting about 2 weeks for pic's and nothing, so i resend a response.

Now read this real close....
thats cool man but as i said the camera took a shit on me and ill tell you the bottom of the door had a little surface rust and the frame has surface rust it is by no means rusted in half nor is it in shitty condition the only thing the truck needs fixed cosmeticly is the cab corner and the little dents and dings its a solid little truck but like i said i hate to sale it id rather finish it but i cant afford to since being laid off but ill hook you up with what i can the engine is just dirty and we primered the breather lol as an inside joke but other than that the engine bay just looks like a old trucks engine bay

So at this point I was satisfied with what I was hearing, we set up a date so I can come get it and what not. We keep in contact. I get up there 5 minutes before I told him I would be there. We show up at the address he gives me, and hes not there. Neither is the truck. It's his mom's house................Getting shady right? Yeah, So his mom calls him and tells him were at her house looking for him. We wait for about 15 mins and he shows up. He tells me it's at his buddys shop..... Ok so why did you give me directions here. Ok whatever no biggie, so we back track 10 miles to the shop.
We get there, I check it out. It seems about up to par with what he's telling me. I brought vic with me because I was using his trailor. I asked him his response he said $800 take it. Granted the guy was true and faithful about the cab corners and fender. So that was no biggie. The doors and bed was mint...
So I get this beast home and Im so hyped at this point. So I start unbolting the cab and my finger slips through the rocker. YES LITERALLY through the rocker.
So I will let the pic's do the talking at this point. Got a couple vid's as well.
Look close the rocker is pulling away from the cab.
I seen this when we pulled it off the trailor and knew it was all bad from there.
Note that I stopped beating on the rocker at that point because I was so pissed.
OH THE MONEY SHOT!!! ALL BONDO!
Don't mind the doors, there my old ones.

Overall I am quite pissed but at least the doors and bed are in good shape. I'm not getting e thuggish but if they were fucked like the rest of the truck. I would make a 3 hour trip again to comfront the person.
I wrote him back about this and I got this....
"man i honestly had no idea bout the rockers, the cab corners were fucked off the rip tho i did know that but like i said it was up my buddys shop we had 10 ppl in an out of there all times working on it what they done and i didnt know about im sorry ill take the blame tho, to be honest i wasnt even there half the time i was wroking 12 and 14 hour days so i didnt do shit but on the weekends but yeah im sorry man i do rember a buddy of mine saying he fixed the cowl but i thought he just skimmed a dent what was wrong with it?"
At that point I knew I was wasting my time. So i just stopped but I will make it known how shady he is.

sorry to here that. i hate buying shit like that too. sounds like he is acting like he didnt even see the truck before they "fixed" all the rust and dents.

damn man....thats horrible!...i mean the worst part is that damn A pillar!!..if your gonna bag it and lay flat rocker the rocker rust wouldn't be that bad but if the A pillar is shot there than the internal fender support has to be pretty tired too!..my first dawg was an 84' and i loved the truck but the pillar was rotted like that and i got it straight but still had wind blowing on my feet!! (SUX IN THE WINTER!!)..i'm suprised you didn't drive back up there and kick his a$$!..i got burned on my first 87' extended cab like that..guy said it had a mint frame and i didn't know what to look for at the time and it just about broke in half on my lift..i almost got arrested for the insuing choice of words at his place of business!!..hopefully you can do something dope with the truck...it's awesome when you take all the crap luck and turn it into something cool...

I will have to look when i get home i cant see the pics. I had a situation similar to this with the truck i bought long stry short i was told it needed a carb. i have fixed and found 15 different things wrong with this not to mention the engine is shot.

Yeah, I have been burned quite a few times, I do computer repairs and I have a good bit of business. I closed my doors from doing it because of shady people.
I had this women bring me a laptop that was covered in baby oil. Asked me to look at it. I was hesitant at first because I had a bad feeling. Since I was not busy that day I figured whats the worse that could happen.
Well I open it up and the motherboard was actually clean, the fans were a little dirty so I took some contact cleaner and cleaned it up.
I turned it on, and to my surprise it actually worked. Most of the oil was in the screen. So I explained to her that she needs a new screen. I took it home to open it up to get the screen model number. I get the number and clean up some of the oil.
I gave it back to her the next day she turns it on, the screen looks like a lava lamp. I start explaining to her that shes going to need a new screen no matter what. She says ok, and I tell her to order it on ebay, she goes on the site and the screen pops.... The oil that was moving in the screen caused it to crack! The screen was done.
She then accused me of breaking the screen and I must pay for it.... Yeah right!!
This was the last time I ever talked to her.... But I cant stand people like this.... I have been burned a few times yet I continue to do computer repairs for friends... But i dont list on Craigslist like I used too.
