what are you guys using to do your wood works(enclosures and such) are you using finish nailers, screws, ETC????
I use a air finish nailer. It came as a package with my pancake air compressor. I used to predrill and use drywall screws.
thats what i use but i got some buddies that think i am crazy i cant imaginge predrilling and using screws.
use mdf "medium density fiberboards.3/4 to 1" use glue to seal it up,and screw together ,unless its not for subs ,you can use air nailer with whatever size you need
3/4" MDF a countersink bit to predrill ,Liquid nails and 1 5/8 drywall screws
Agreed - don't think I would want to try a sub box with only nails and glue. Unless of course it's wrapped in a little "Sosa" LOL
I have always used 3/4" MDF, either clear adhesive silicone or liquid nails, counter sink bit, and long dry wall screws...and lots of them. Then use resin on the joints if you want a truly sealed and strong box...or get some sosa love it will be perfect then.
i can see screws on boxes but like dash and consule work i cant idk mabye its just me
When I worked at a stereo shop back in the day I used a nail gun and this glue that my buddies wife use to get I think it was called woodbond. I can't remember but that stuff was nasty you could build a box and not use nails which happen a couple times got busy and forgot to nail the box. Before that i counter sunk, predrilled and dry wall screws.
Agreed, the woodbond is good stuff. If you try to take apart the box after it dries, the wood breaks before the bond will. My last box was made with 3/4 MDF, "Gorilla Glue" and airnailed. It has been together six years now. The nails only pin the box while the glue dries.
