hey guys i am finnaly getting back into the b scene (no pun intended) i go tin to 4 wheelin for a while then relized its just to damn expensive. Any ways i picked up a 1991 b2200 for a steal its a one owner with 60,000 origanle miles, the guy was 83 years old it dosen't have a dent, scratch nick anywhere from what i can see he gave his phone book sized binder full of recipts and service tickets and i picked it up for $1,000. In the year i have not had a b i lost the little bit of knowledge i had so i need help. I am looking to static drop it now what do i do for best ride quality ( i know its going to suck no matter what) do i need to flip ball joints? when i am cranking the torsion bars is it still righty tighty, lefty losey? how do i tell how low i am going when cranking? and the stupidest question of all blocks on top or bottm of leafs and should i take it down to one leaf?

Welcome back!

Flipping the ball joints will give you an extra 3/4" but is not necessary.
Turn the torsion bars down with the weight off of the suspension and keep track of how many turns you make so both sides will be the same.
The blocks go on top of the leafs in between the axle and leaf spring.

welcome back. its actually a better ride if you rekey the torsions. here is a how-to on doing it.

i've read that.. but nowhere does it say how far to rekey it. 1/4 turn or what?
i know it says each is different, but how do you tell when right is right?
and how is this better than just cranking the torsions?
and is it suggesting to rekey INSTEAD of cranking torsions, or in addition to?

and regarding original poster and questions... some of those answers depend how low you want to go....
as mentioned flipped bj's will get you lower, monoleaf will get you lower, blocks will get you lower... but how low you want to go is the question

i want fender mildly in line with the top of the tires, i'm going with 3" blocks and likely removing 1 leaf, exact way midnightmike did on his black beater truck... i liked that stance...

i likely won't flip ball joints.. but i could actually do a combination like... say... 3 splines, then crank the torsions to get it more fine tuned?

so rekeying can be done on it's own and will lower the truck?

that's pretty sweet....
