I've been losing clutch fluid at a rapid rate for about a month, but been so busy with work and school that I didn't have time to do anything about it. I figured it was the slave cylinder and an easy fix. So I went to replace the slave today, got the truck jacked up and slave cylinder is fine. It was the clutch master cylinder failed, dumping all my fluid into the cabin through the firewall behind the carpet. so my insulation is soaked with brake fluid from all the times i refilled it thinking it was just coming out at the clutch. my dumbass fault i know.

my question is, should I rip all the carpet and sound deadening material out and replace it? When I replaced the master cylinder I pulled the carpet back and hit the area pretty hard with brake cleaner. I'm worried about the brake fluid corroding the floorpan. also, does the sound insulation have asbestos fibers? do I need to take precautions if i pull it out?

I would wear a mask and gloves. Replace the carpet, sound deadening etc. Brake fluid will continue to eat everything.

its not that hard just takes time pull the carpet and clean it really good with degreaser and a pressure washer remove all the padding and degrease anywhere on the floor you got fluid

Yeah...I wouldn't give up on it. This is a fairly common problem, just a mess to clean up.
