Thx J, It'll run, but I'm kinda impatient, gonna order some jets here in a few & I'll try & play
with it a little more next weekend...It has hit on all 4 cylinders and sounds super strong,
it just won't idle or do more than hit once per cylinder....I know I have spark, and have checked
the timing, so all I can boil it down to is the carbs which say to turn out 1 1/4 on the idle screws,
to which I did and it would just barely hit each cylinder, so I turned them 2 full turns off seat, and it hit
a little harder, and I gave it another 1/2 turn and it hit all 4 sequentially, but the tuning book I have says
anything more than 1 1/4 and you need to go up one or two idle jet sizes, so hence ordering jets is in order...
I'll keep err'one posted....
u know them damn Webers are real sensitive to atmos. pressure as well.As long as we got good weather (ie high pressure) they should need a little more gas,not less, but hey what the Hell do I know.Try a bigger idle jetand see what happens and pray it doesnt rain.Lol.BJ
Thanks for the info BJ, it is def a trial & error deal, not to mention $5 a jet, that can get expensive when there are 2 per carb! I'm fairly sure I'm getting enough gas, just prolly not the right air/fuel mixture thru the idle jets, so I ordered several different sized, along with some other tuning goodies, hopefully with a little test & tune, I'll have it running right before long.....
Base setting that came with the 45's:
Main Choke/Venturi = 36
Aux Choke/Venturi = 4.5
Main Jet = 145
Emulsion Tube = F16
Air Corrector = 155
Idle Jet = 55F8
Pump Jet [int] = 45, Pump Jet [exh] = 40
Needle Vlv = 2.00
What the weber books I got said:
Main Choke/Venturi = 36 up to 38 for max wot power
Aux Choke/Venturi = 4.5 up to 5.0 again for max wot power
Main Jet = 145 good for 500cc per cyl engine, 150 for 550cc, 155 for 600cc, with the +1mm overbore, my engine comes out to 2235 cc total, 558.8cc per cyl
Emulsion Tube = F16 for 300-425cc, F2 for 425-550cc [F# is air correction factor of the particular emul-tube]
Air Corrector = 155, Recommended starting with 160, and go leaner (larger #)
Idle Jet = 55F8 (155 is good for 490-560cc) [F# is air correction factor of the jet series]
Pump Jet [int] = 45 Pump Jet [exh] = 40 For 500-600cc 45 on int, 40 on exh, 600-700cc 50 int, 45 exh
Needle Vlv = 2.00 For 500-600cc, 2.25 for 600-700cc
What I ordered:
Main Jets = 150
Idle Jets = ordered 3 different F#'s, lean to rich = 55F2, 55F11, 55F9
Air Corr Jets = 165, 175
Emul Tubes = F2, and F9
I didn't get the larger main or aux choke since I'm not gonna be at wot all the time, driveability & fuel efficency with max power, the pump jets are sized correctly per the books recommendations as is the needle vlv....I figure with having two main jets, 4 idle jets, two air corr jets, and three emul tubes, I ought to be able to find the sweet spot so that i get the best tune all the way from idle to wot...fingers crossed, we shall see this weekend as long as the place I order them from has them in stock...
H-m-m-m-m.I think u ought to get all them fine pieces in there and while giving that mota ur best 10click stare, invoke the Mazda Mechanic's ancient incantation "Frimmin on the jim-jam,frammin on the Krotz" and just dare that sob not to start.LMAO.BJ
man id love to meet you bj .you have some funny ass posts ,lmao
Trying to upload a vid to utub for you guys...connection is slo tonight even for dsl
It says it isn't processed or sumthin yet, they must have to approve it first....???
here's the link
this is like the 3rd time I cranked it, it is running, but roughly, I'm trying to load another vid I shot a little later this afternoon after I had a chance to tinker with the carbs, it was still idling a little high, but was running better....the second vid has been loading for 5 min and is only 1/2 way thru, so it may take a little while....but I'll post the link to it when it finishes loading...
Here's the second vid...
Its alive-Its alive-IT IS ALIVE.Bwah-a-a-a-a-ha..BJ
that is sweet nytryder ,your only the second person ive ever seen with dual sidedraft webers EVER "THATS AWESOME,and running .congrats man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
