looking at getting a fuel cell this weekend and have some questions?

most of them come with either a gm or ford sending unit in them does any one know if they will work off our factory gague, is the ohms different on our trucks or what? dont know when it comes to this stuff so hopefully some one can help? <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" />

thanks aaron.

They will not work with the factory gauge. In my extra cab I just bought a gauge from summit to work with the sending unit in the fuel cell.It was a gm 0-90 ohm sending unit.I made a panel and put the gauge in the glove compartment.

does any one know what ohms our trucks run for the sending unit?

90-0. You can use the gm sending unit, the gauge will just read backwards.

well found out the ohms for a 90 mazda empty it reads 103-117
half a tank it should read 29-37
and full it should read 1-5

dont make any sense to me but i got it from a guy that looked it up some where today while i was working.

dont know if it will help any one else but im still lost on what sending unit to get for my fuel cell?

help plz. lol

if its the bobber style sender like i'm thinking of you might be able to take it out and run the bobber on the other side, so it would read backwards for the gm, but correct for the mazda. (if mazda is really backwards of gm.)
now... there are several different kinds, but all i'm looking at is the bobber deal... if you can hang it off the other side, essentially you'd be reversing the ohm's.

ok ...... lol i found out the hard way that i had my wires crossed on my fatory tank and my gauge read full....haha I ran out of gas today
so now im thinking when i put the fuel cell in cant i just cross my wires and it would read correct ? damn all this. i guess all i can do is try it. and if it works it works i guess.
