I found another Magnum Motor at the Junkyard the other day. Went back today to yank the whole motor and some lucky SOB! Snatched the head and the Valve cover. The pistons look different then the ones I've seen in other motors they have a very small dish to them with Valve spots grooved into the tops does this sound like a true Magnum? If so would it be worth it to go get the block?
what rig was it in? I need to check my yard
It was in the Tigard You Pull it. There are 3 white Mazdas all next to each other. They belonged to some shop. You want truck 106 and you'll see what I mean by truck 106 LOL if you're going to Tigard.
well I wont be headed your way too far west. I was just curious if it was in a truck or not. But I am going to have check the yard in my town there is six trucks but I haven't looked under the hoods.
no, they sound like stock pistons, they will have 3 valve reliefs, one large one for the intake valve, and two smaller ones for the exhaust, they were done like this by mazda so that the same pistons could be used with our trucks and the 8 vlv head, and on the cars with the 12 vlv head....from what I understand the magnum pistons will have a dome top with the same valve reliefs cut into them....good find, sux someone got the cover n such...
Bummer I was hoping it was a true magnum motor..
true, but if anyone were in an area that one might be found, it would be in your neck-o-the-woods, since most of the import motors come in on the west coast....good luck, & keep searchin for the holy grail
