i'm pretty sure it's spot welds that'll have to be cut or ground off and rewelded when the new one is installed. You can most likely get away with mig welding the new core in place.

I used a sawzall and steel toe boot on mine to take it off my 2600. lol

you can buy a spot weld drilling tool(cheap like 20 bucks) drill all the welds (there are like 60 of them) and the clip will pull right off...the plug weld the new one

any auto body and paint store will carry them

snoplow,

if you'll click the link at the bottom of my post for my photobucket account, there is a pic in there of where I removed my core support & installed a new one...it is a pita, about 80 spot welds to drill out, Todd was right, get a spot weld drill bit, eastwood company sells them, it will save a bunch of agrivation & make for a cleaner re-install. you also have to loosen the two front body to frame mounts other than that it is a good idea to put some kind of spacer inbetween the inner fenders to keep the correct spacing & just tack it in a couple spots & re install the fenders and what not to make sure you have the correct alignment, other wise the fenders, hood, grille might not line up right....
