i have no dash lights on my mazda 89 and no running lights. brake lights work when pushed and blinkers work. When i turn headlights on they blow the fuse and no dashlights or running lights. ive changed the piece with the turnsignal, headlight switch/blinker switch but still blowin fuses when headlights are turned on. No wires are grounding out from the tail lights back to the cab. any ideas?

Hmmm, are all the wires there? do you have a wiring diagram?

I had this same problem and it drove me nuts. Mine ended up being one of the front park lights. Here's what I suggest to fix the problem once and for all.

1.Remove all of the parking lights and tail lights from the truck (unplug them from the harness).

2. Put a fuse back in the correct spot and turn on your lights.

3. If it still blows you have a harness problem, if not its at one of the lights.

4. If it doesn't blow start plugging in the lights untill it does. Whatever light it blows at, then there's your problem.

5. If its in the harness check the problematic spots like where it comes out of the firewall along the drivers fender, rear of cab, behind pan, under the rad support.

Hope that helps. Most likely its at one of the lights.
