make sure your air filter is clean, exhaust is free from holes or cracks that affect flow. a basic tune up can improve gas mileage. check your tire pressure, install a toneau cover if you dont already have one. clean out any extra weight ie. scrap or extra parts in bed, spare tire if you own a cell phone. remove tire jack and tools from cubby hole.
other then this ummmm im thinkin maybe build some light weight parts like a fiber glass hood.......
ive read on the net and have used for almost a year now for improvement of gas milage and performance........pure hardware store acstone .......... yes 1 to 1.5 fluid oz added to 10 gals of gas. it gives me better mileage and the car seems to run smoother and cooler then normal. also gas with ethanol is bogus it has decreased gas mileage. ask you gas station about their gas and how much ethanol is mixed into it.
ok well some people are skeptics about acstone so try it if you like and if not dont............just dont try and debate it with me thats all

Practical stuff: Air tires up to 33-35 psi.rides rough but less rolling friction.Trucks run rich anyway so go to one heat range hotter plug, set gap at .035mm.Set time to 5% before TDC,change to a low restriction air filter like a KandN .use the litest oil u can get away with without increasing consumption like a 5w-20.Use a Maz or Wix oil filter.Use a two stage thermostat 160/180 so truck will warm up as fast as posible. When driving get to the highest gear u can as soon as possible.I have a six speed Volvo and my shift pattern on level ground is 1-2-4-6-.all these things will add up and should help u 3-4 mpg.BJ
