so theres no other solutions, but to shorten it? i cant just get a new seal or boot or something, cause this blows, this truck is my daily
having a driveshaft shortened should only cost like 20 bux at a drive shaft shop.. and will take them about 10-20 min.
Mike
I want the # for your shop!
Slammed, you're screwed. Start pricing new transmissions.
^^^ how do you figure there bud
pull the driveshaft out of there for a second, and feel if the output shaft wiggles...if it does, gonna need a new output shaft bearing, might as well get new syncros and get the gears checked
well i put the new seal on everything went smoothly except it was harder than hell tog et those 4 bolts off the u joint but for being on for 23 years i can understand so now all i have to do is wait to see if i have any leaks
Your output shaft is crooked.
maybe it looks like it in the picture or it could be from the way i took the picture but the output shaft isnt crooked. driveshaft is just to long like mike stated
I had to get my drive shaft replaced on my '84 because of old age wear. If I were you, I would take it to a shop and let them have a peek at it. Most shops would probably check it for free it for free. As long as it hasen't damaged anything on the inside of your transmission, it shoulden't be too expensive.
so what would the driveshaft do? i basically got the problem in hand the driveshaft needs to be shortened like 1/4" so it wont pop that seal
