I was thinking of shaving my doors on my b2200 that i use as a daily but i have a couple of concerns. Since i use it as a daily can i rely on the protocal kit to work 100% of the time and not leave me stranded and what is the best way to back up the system if say my battery were to die?? I know some people use a hidden switch but cause it would still use the battery power to unlock it it wouldnt help if the battery dies although it would be better reassurance then nothing. And a hidden safety latch cable i think would be kinda hard to hide?? I was thinking maybe hiding two terminals that u could supply an external 12v source to open the doors if the battery was dead, better then nothing and it would be easy to hide.

All of those would work. Also get yourself a drycell battery and you can mount it upside down under the truck so oyu can boost it. Or get a hood latch froma 70's GM that opens from the front and put it under the bumper.

I would buy some Remote Jumper Terminals

Those above are from Summit, but you can get them at Jegs as well...

Mount these where you can get to them if your battery were to die...

Also I would take some brake cable, of an old bike lets say, and use that as an emergency popper. Hide it in your fender-well

Those are just some options I have used before!

On my 96 Ranger I simply had a thin cable that ran along the bottom of the door and came out just under the rear of the drivers side fender....unless you looked you would never know it was there. I never installed poppers or anything, used that as my sole way into the truck when the windows were rolled up.

those are some awesome ideas, thanks guys. I think i will go with the hood latch idea behind the bumper somewhere, keep it as simple as possible and no way for someone else to get in. That would cover me if the battery dies and i cant see the solenoids on both doors breaking at the same time.

Use a backup battery for an alarm system also,But the best is what dev said.
