how do door poppers work???

I know this is a dumb question. I understand the solenoid and that it pulls the door open. I understand the wiring. Where do you place the poppers and how do they operate. Does anyone have any pics.

the popper is basically just a spring that when you door is closed it compresses it then when the latch is released it pushes out on the door.about the best place i have found to place them on a mazda is like in the bottom corner of the door jam at the back

yeah, technically you dont have to use the poppers, but if you shave your handles it would be hard to grab onto anything to open it.
i placed my poppers in the same place, low at the bottom corner. right in the spot where the trigger is for the lights. so then i drilled another hole and moved the light trigger over a bit.
