column shift??

well ive been thinking of this for a while, since ive got the 5.4 cobra motor an 6 speed tran im puttin im my maz, i was thinkin of just puttin in an AOD trans ive got instead of the manual, i wanna built a nice console without the shifter there, so i was thinking of taken a column out of a 90's ranger with the column shift and putting it in, im gonna prolly build a new dash ne wayz, has ne one ever done it and what do you guys think about it, i think it be pretty trick, plus id have and auto, never worry about shifting gears, just hittin switches.

I like that idea. I've never seen it done,and I think that would definetly raise some eyebrows.

yeah thats what i think, it wouldnt be all that hard, it would complete the whole ford theme, plus ill be running the irs set up out a cougar( hopefully if i can get it soon(lofosho86), im just tring to throw some itdeas around and this one keeps coming back to me

Not to my knowledge. Most guys just keep the floor shift with the slushbox when then do V8 swaps. Having it on the column is not only old skool,but it's different for a Mazda!

ithink im gonna hit the junk yards this week and see what i can find, ive never seen it done, i just think itd be sick

I know I have seen a Mustang dash fitted into a Ranger - would be interesting to see if a Ranger dash and column could be transplanted into your truck!!!
