Hey guys, So today I took out my dash so I can remove the heater box and now I'm stuck. How do you get this thing out I took out all the bolts and that bracket on the driver side. Where do I go from here. Any help would be great pictures would work.

Thanks.

oh man, i wish i would have taken pics. i remember it being a real pain in the pooper. (i believe you are talking about the heater core) if i remember right i think you have to pull the casing around it apart. i will look in my chiltons and see if it says anything man.

ok the chiltons says this

1. remove the heater core from the truck
2. remove the 5 screws and seperate the halves of the case
3. loosen the hose clamps and slide the heater core from the case
4. slide the replacement core into the case, at the same time, connect the core tube to the water valve tube with the short hose and the clamps
5. assemble the halves of the heater and install the five screws

and of course install. wish i had pics for you. hope this helps.

oh, well in that case. you may want to think about this. if you remove the heater core than you are kind of running a risk (if it is a daily) the heater core still helps cool the water that is being run throughout the engine. but you are in canada so it problably doesn't matter. but then again, it is cold as hell up there bro, why get rid of the heater. hahaha. just kiddin man. just take a piece of pipeing and connect the 2 lines together so the water can contiune to flow.

so i guess you are getting rid of everything under the dash?

I never thought about that it might over heat in the summer. I only drive it in the summer. But ya that was my plan to remove every thing. Thanks for the help dude.

What if I got electric fans you think that would keep it cooler if I removed the heater core they would be better than the clutch fan.

i put an electric fan and kept the clutch fan on mine but i live in texas where it gets a lot hotter. personally i would just keep the heater core. you can get rid of the bulky box around it and make a mount for it and mount it to the firewall. or move it to the engine bay. these aluminum heads are so finiky you never know. the cooler the better. imo.
