ok, i pulled the wiring harness out of my 83 b2000 because the guy that had the truck before me hacked it all up and it kept giving me problems.

so i pulled the wiring harness out of my 84 b2000 and i am installing it into my 83. for whatever reason i cannot get the taillights or turnsignals to work. i am pretty sure i have everything hooked up but it is hard to tell as i do not have the a/c or heater installed and there are a ton of extra plugs.

also, since i bought it, it never had the horn working. i can make it come on by groung the wire from the horn to the frame but cannot find where to plug it into on the steering column.

if anyone can help out with picks or anything i would def. appreciate it. i will be screwing with it until i can get this thing all legal so i can drive it more often. thanks.

when i got my truck the turn signals and taillights also didin't work but i found the harness that goes to them wich runs down the drivers side of my cab and its like four or five wires put together and the ground grounds out to the seat belt bolt i have my carpet out so i will get you some pics this afternoon. i can't help with the horn because mine still doesn't work.

ok, update...

i got the turn signals and hazards working but still no taillights. and what i thought was the horn wasn't the horn. i think it is the door ajar or something going off in the cab. i thought it was an extremely weak horn, so i am back to square one with the horn.

so does that box under the driver seat have anything to do with the taillights? if so that may be my problem. or is it just that ground wire? if it the ground wire than i have it grounded. i think. i will keep messing with that end of all this and see if that fixes it. thanks bro.

im almost 100% sure the little box that is under the driver seat is for your dome light and the little annoying buzzing noise that comes on when you open the door. I honestly threw it away my tail lights still work......

Check to make sure you dont have any split wires going back to your tailights, I had one and everytime I hit my brakes my tail lights went off other than that I dunno man I havent really touched the wiring harness

yeah, i am about to go through the wiring. i have got everything working with the exception of the taillights, brake lights, and horn. the same lights that are used as the taillights flash when i turn the flasher and the turn signal on. i don't know why they won't work when i just turn the lights on. i will figure it out though. it is just a pain in the ass.

i tried swapping them. still didn't fix it. it may be bad though. i am going to pull it out of my parts truck and try that.

well i fixed it. it was a shorted wire. horn works and everything. the only thing is there is still a problem somewhere. i think i need a bigger alt. and a bigger battery. i may get a yellow top and a 1 wire alt from a chevy. i took it out and drove it for the first time in like 2 months. went and filled it up with gas and came back home when i pulled into the driveway i kicked on the compressors. they were running for a minute and i hit the switches and she bogged down and died. the valves don't use a lot of power but with both compressors going and raising her back up with that little battery and stock alt. it may just be to much. so i will be relocating the battery to the bed i guess. i am going to run some tests on her and see if there is something else that may be wrong.
