Notch?

I'm layin my truck on 18" rims so i'm just wondering how big of a notch i will need? I don't really want to buy a kit i would like to build my own...

i think the standard it @ 8", you want it tall enough to give some clearance above the axle when laid out.....

yes in deed i mocked my truck up for 18s and i easily had 3" of room between the notch and axle when laid out, so you should be good to go bro.

personally i think it looks a little better when the notch is close to the axle, and that way your bed floor doesn't have to be as high if you choose to cover that notch.

If you looked at my recent Officially Lay'd Out On 18's thread you would see that I am completely layd out and I still have 2-3" of clearance before the notch tops out!

Oh, and I have just a good ol 8" step notch!
