the tank aint cuttin it anymore. i just need to know what kind of sending unit will be ok and does it matter if it has a sump or not
I hear you there, you shouldn't need to worry about a sump for your application at all! As for the sending unit, there is no sending unit with the exact ohm range on your stock tank!
You can pick up a GM Sending unit which will work, BUT your gauge will read backwards...Empty=Full and vise-versa! Correct me if I am wrong guys with the above statement....
I went with a custom dash the hold a new set of aftermarket gauges, and in that set I am using a GM Fuel Level gauge. My Fuel Cell has the GM Sending Unit so everything werks out great!
Good Luck, hope I shed a little light on your situation for you!

yeah an autometer guage and a sending unit that matches the gauge is the best way to go....(or whatever brand you prefer....does not have to be autometer.)
what they said is tru, the maz guage reads 90-0 ohm, and the closest one you can get that has a full guage sweep is a gm type that is 0-90 ohm, so the fact. maz guage will read backwards.
i have a jaz 16 gal. pro-street unit, with the gm sender & sump, jegs sells them for @$189 or so....made of crosslinked polyethylene & is foam filled also....
Those are good Fuel Cells! I am running a RCI 15 gal Foam Filled with the GM Unit....Works GREAT!
Im running a custom 20 gallon 16 guage aluminium fuel cell witht he stock sending unit. I think I fried my fuel guage but I get almost 500 miles to a tank.
